Become a Team Parent

WHY BE A TEAM PARENT?

We know how much parents do for their kids, especially when it comes to extracurricular activities. With that said...

We are looking for those parents who go above and beyond, not just for their kids, but for the team! Calling all team parents. We want to activate our most loyal, helpful, and under utilized resource, our TEAM PARENTS!

We are looking for one TEAM PARENT per team especially during Fall & Spring seasons, (there can be more than one, but we need at least one per team to take the lead).

WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE TEAM PARENT TO HELP MAKE:

  • Coaches feel supported
  • Parents feel informed
  • Players feel encouraged

EXPECTATIONS OF A TEAM PARENT

  1. Be the first line of communication for parents to the coach.
  2. Support the coach in what they need to give the kids the best experience
  3. Be the direct communicator with the league for any questions or concerns parents might have
  4. Have a list of all allergies and medical conditions on your team as well as a list of parents contact numbers at every game and practice.
  5. Inform parents of any new "need-to-know" information. (i.e. picture dates, practice or game schedules, end of the season party, etc.)
  6. We will send this information to you in a timely manner.
  7. Plan/ coordinate with parents an end of the year party.
  8. Making sure that all parents receive their photos, trophies, etc.
  9. Arrange a coach appreciation gift for the end of the year. This doesn't have to cost money, it can be something as simple as a piece of paper with kids saying what they learned from their coach. Or a video of the kids thanking the coach. It doesn't have to cost money, but we want to show our coaches we appreciate them.
  10. You are the champions for sportsmanship at each game. We want to create a fun, competitive, encouraging environment at each practice and game.
  11. Maintain the NFL Flag CC community. We want each of our teams to become a second family and our league like an extension of that family.

Parent Code of Conduct

Youth sports programs play an important role in promoting the physical, social and emotional development of children. It is, therefore; essential for parents, coaches and officials to encourage youth athletes and embrace the values of good sportsmanship. Any adults who are spectators or involved in youth sports should lead by example by being models of good sportsmanship. This means we expect parents,  guardians and spectators to demonstrate fairness, respect and self control.

THEREFORE, ALL PARENTS, COACHES AND SPECTATORS WILL ABIDE BY THE FOLLOWING RULES:

  1. I will not engage, or encourage my child to engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee, such as booing and taunting, refusing to shake hands, or using profane language or gestures.
  2. I will not engage, or encourage my child to engage in any behavior which would endanger the health, safety or well being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
  3. I will not engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
  4. I will not use, or encourage any other person to use drugs or alcohol while at games, and will not attend, coach, officiate or participate in any league event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  5. I will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials and spectators at every game, practice or event.
  6. I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices, unless I am one of the official coaches of the team.
  7. I will respect the officials and their authority during games, and will never question, discuss, or confront coaches at the game field, and will take time to speak with coaches at an agreed upon time and place.
  8. I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or his/her performance.
  9. I will treat any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee with respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or ability.
  10. I will remember that youth sports are played for fun and the game is played for the youth and not for the adults.

CONSEQUENCES

Individuals who fail to abide by the foregoing while attending, coaching, officiating or participating in any game will be subject to disciplinary action including, but not limited to, the following in any order or combination as decided by the league:

  • Verbal warning issued by the league.
  • Written warning issued by the league.
  • Immediate ejection from the game.
  • Suspension from a game, or multiple games.
  • Removal from the league.

Any player, coach, or parent ejected from a game will automatically be suspended for one game. All ejections are reviewed by the league, and if necessary can be extended to multiple games. A second ejection will be an automatic two game suspension, and possible removal from the league. A third ejection is removal from the league.
